A BLUESMOBILE TRIBUTE |
|
Below is the Chicago Cruiser...Connecticut style. Note the fender turn signals. Though not "correct," they're sure helpful reminding you that you've left them on. This is 1974 Brougham with dressed down, plain hood and de-chromed. Note the front door window vents. The correct hub cabs for 1974 were Dodge blue circle dog dishes. But I like the vented caps better. Of course, the Blues Brothers lost their wheel covers on their first high speed jump or fast turn. This baby is ready for pushbars and a spotlight. The big, ugly speaker is definitely optional. Charles Corrente and buddy Russ Ackerknecht (Jake) did the "retooling" and bought the suits, hats and glasses.
Here's the economy sized CV-2 version of the Bluesmobile. Martijn van Well built this version for the narrow Dutch roads. This dune buggy captures the spirit of the outlaw ex-police car right down to the "missing" hub caps. The Blues Brother star makes sure there's no doubt as to its origins. Don't even go near deep sand in its big American brother! Great graphic, no? |
